Dear Parents & Guardians,
Hello and welcome to Lewis F. Cole Intermediate School! My name is Kaitlyn Clausman, and I am excited to be your child’s school counselor for their 5th and 6th grade years. This will be my 8th year as a school counselor at the Intermediate School, and I feel incredibly fortunate to work with our incrediable students and staff each year.
As a school counselor, I am here to support your child academically, socially, and emotionally. I make it a priority to be highly visible throughout the school and our community. I try my best to get to know each and every student. Students are always welcome to make an appointment or stop by my office when they need support. My goal is to create a safe, welcoming space where every student feels comfortable reaching out.
Some of the services I offer include individual counseling, group counseling, and social groups. This year, I will be running two groups: an Empowerment Group, focused on self-esteem and confidence, and an Organizational Skills Group, focused on study habits and organization. Weekly social groups will also provide students with opportunities to build friendships, practice social skills, get to know one another, and have fun!
This year, we will also continue our partnership with InSite Counseling, which provides additional counseling services during the school day. Our counseling department works closely with InSite to ensure our students receive the support they need to thrive.
As a reminder, regular attendance and arriving at school on time are important parts of student success. Being present and ready to learn each day helps students stay connected to their teachers, classmates, and learning while developing positive habits that will benefit them throughout their school years.
I encourage parents and guardians to reach out with any questions or concerns. I work closely with teachers, school staff, and outside agencies to ensure students feel safe, supported, and successful.
